Embedded C & Microcontrollers

A 6-week Embedded C course on real microcontroller boards. Master GPIO, timers, interrupts, ADC and UART/I2C/SPI, and finish with a complete hardware project.

Embedded C & Microcontrollers

Embedded C & Microcontrollers builds the core firmware skills that electronics and automation companies look for. Instead of relying only on ready-made libraries, you learn what happens underneath — registers, timers, interrupts and communication protocols.

Each topic is practised on real boards at our Ahmedabad lab, using a multimeter and logic analyser to see and debug what your code is doing.

Who this course is for

  • EC, EE, instrumentation and mechatronics students
  • Diploma students and graduates preparing for core embedded roles
  • Robotics and Arduino learners ready to go deeper

What you will learn

  • Embedded C: data types, bit manipulation, pointers and structures
  • Microcontroller architecture, memory and registers
  • GPIO, timers, PWM and interrupts
  • ADC and interfacing analog sensors
  • UART, I2C and SPI communication with displays and sensors
  • Debugging, reading datasheets and an introduction to RTOS concepts

Course plan

Week 1: Embedded C essentials

The parts of C that matter on hardware: bitwise operations, volatile, pointers and memory-mapped registers.

Week 2: GPIO and timers

Drive outputs, read inputs and use hardware timers for accurate delays and PWM.

Week 3: Interrupts and ADC

Respond to events instantly with interrupts and read analog sensors with the ADC.

Week 4: UART and serial communication

Exchange data with a PC and other modules, and build a simple command interface.

Week 5: I2C and SPI

Interface an OLED display, real-time clock and sensors over I2C and SPI.

Week 6: Final project

Design, build and present a complete embedded system with documentation.

Projects you will build

  • Digital thermometer with an OLED display
  • Interrupt-driven event counter
  • Data logger with a real-time clock
  • Final project such as a smart energy meter or an access-control system

Tools and hardware

Arduino-compatible AVR and ARM-based development boards, OLED display, RTC module, temperature and other sensors, multimeter, logic analyser, breadboard and jumper wires. Kits are provided for lab sessions.

Prerequisites

Basic C programming and basic electronics. Completing Robotics Foundations, or equivalent Arduino experience, is helpful but not required.

After the course

Move on to the Embedded Systems Internship, or combine your skills with our IoT and Robotics programs for more advanced projects.

Frequently asked questions

Which microcontrollers do you use?

We start on AVR-based boards for clarity, then introduce an ARM Cortex-M board so you can apply the same concepts on industry-standard hardware.

Is this useful for placements?

Yes. Register-level programming, interrupts and serial protocols are standard topics in embedded and firmware interviews.

Do you cover PCB design?

We cover reading schematics and PCB basics. Full PCB design is covered in our internship projects.

Fees, batch timings and seat availability are shared on enquiry. Message us on WhatsApp or use the enquiry form, and our team will help you choose the right batch.

Every Tejeel course includes

  • Hands-on lab sessions with real hardware / live projects
  • Mentor support and doubt-clearing sessions
  • A final project you build and present
  • Certificate of completion
